iOS 10 Jailbreak is still under the wraps. Pangu is reportedly working on iOS 10 Jailbreak tool, but we are yet to see any solid information coming out. There are words Apple might have fixed iOS 10 Jailbreak with release of iOS 10.1/10.1.1 update. Pangu is developing the iOS 10 Jailbreak from last couple of months. We heard numerous jailbreak updates and none of them mentioned anything about public release of jailbreak tool any time soon.
Update: Apple might have fixed Pangu’s iOS 10.1 jailbreak exploit, however, Todesco has released Yalu iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak for iPhone and iPad devices. Here is how to perform iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak on iPhone/iPad.
Apple has launched iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1 update for iPhone and iPad users. The iOS 10.1 update is widely waited by iPhone 7 Plus users as it was bringing the Portrait Mode feature. Apple has fixed variety of iOS 10 bugs in iOS 10.1 update. Pangu was also waiting for Apple to release an iOS 10.1 update as they wanted to include it in the jailbreak tool.
Since the release of iOS 10.1, we have noticed a silence in iOS Jailbreak community from hackers. No more showcase of jailbreak exploits, and no more public discussions. Security researchers started exploring differences between iOS 10 and iOS 10.1 security layers. A number of security exploits are patched in iOS 10.1 update. One of the security bugs that got patched seems to match the description of a jailbreak exploit.
We have obtained the report from security researchers to see what could have gone wrong or how it affects the iOS 10 jailbreak release.
Apple Might Fixed iOS 10 Jailbreak Before Launch:
Apple might already fixed iOS 10 Jailbreak even before the public launch. Everything is possible. Apple recently fixed numerous security bugs in iOS 10, which can relate to jailbreak possibilities. One of the exploit was related to giving all access to hackers on iOS 10 running devices. We are not sure if Pangu has used that exploit to introduce iOS 10 jailbreak for public, or some other exploit.
However, if they had used that exploit to allow users install Cydia or get jailbreak status, then things are in really bad shape. Pangu might have lost another jailbreak exploit to Apple’s security research team. Apple has recently started a bug bounty program and offering up to $200k to hackers who share their exploits with Apple.
Things are changing in iOS jailbreak community. Pangu is the only jailbreak development team who is interested in releasing a public iOS 10 jailbreak for users. Other hackers do have the exploits, but they are more likely to use them for their personal research or cashing bug bounties.
We have asked one of the security researcher about the bug fixes coming in iOS 10+ firmware updates, and he said Apple is seriously gearing up once again. In the recent months, Apple has made major changes to core of iOS security.
With iOS 10, they have introduced new rootless state for iOS 10 running devices. While the game continues between Jailbreak hackers and Apple, there are chances we may still have the iOS 10 jailbreak release happening soon.
We wish to be wrong about the jailbreak exploit being patched by Apple. We know how many of you would be upset, if this would have happened. Pangu has clearly waited for iOS 10.1 release, and now many of you have updated to latest firmware.
When iOS 10 Jailbreak Is Getting Released:
Once again we are on the dark stage with iOS 10 jailbreak development and release status. We are not sure if Pangu has used the exploit which got patched or not. We can only hope that Pangu might have used some other exploit.
Later last month, we heard from one of our source related to Pangu claiming they are in the final stage of iOS 10 jailbreak tool development. Hinting at the successful penetration of iOS 10 security, and installation of Cydia on iOS 10 running devices.
The report suggested Pangu is planning to launch the iOS 10 jailbreak tool once Apple rolls out the iOS 10.1 update. Now, the update is available for everyone and rumors are suggesting Apple might have already fixed the exploit. We are not sure if Pangu is going to keep the old estimated release timeline or not.
According to last update, Pangu was planning to launch iOS 10 jailbreak in the second week of November. We are still excited to learn more about the jailbreak development and release cycle, and more importantly if Pangu has lost the exploit or not.
Anything can happen, we are here to assume the best and positive outcome. We are still looking out for the iOS 10 jailbreak release in November.
